Concept design, not a completed commission

A concept listening room and library for a private collector. The brief was a room that sounds as good as it looks, without the studio feel of foam and bass traps on show. Walls are lined in wool felt panels in a soft charcoal, and the rear wall uses micro-perforated timber to scatter reflections rather than deaden them.

Heavy floor-to-ceiling drapery on a ceiling track can close over the glazing for critical listening, or open for daylight when the room is used as a library. A deep wool rug quiets the floor. The balance of absorption and diffusion is planned with the speakers and the listening seat in mind, not added afterwards. See our acoustics studio for how we approach sound in private homes.
